My 80 year old parents’ paper is delivered on a main road about 2 tenths mile from their house…even though the US mail is delivered to the mailbox at their driveway without question. The family was told that it was too expensive to deliver it to the residence. I offered to pay an additional amount to cover the 4 tenths of a mile (round trip). I then got told that the carrier didn’t have enough time in the morning to drive any further down the paved road for one house. So now a family member has to come and bring the paper in each day! My parents have subscribed to the A C-T for over 60 years and just the other day mother told me she is not going to renew because of the difficulty in getting the paper now that they can no longer drive to the box!
Oh! A C-T did suggest that the newpaper could be mailed to them at an exhorbitant price…better than double the normal subscription rate!
We canceled a subscription three weeks ago that is delivered to our house. It still lands in our yard everyday, even with a note on the fence directing otherwise.
Sorry to say, Ash, but I just about guarantee you are wasting your time asking News 13 for an update on the AC-T delivery controversy. That newsroom simply sucks at following up on stories. Especially since this concerns people in "the projects", not exactly a significant segment of the WLOS advertising demographic. Unless I am really mistaken, chalk this one up to "one hit wonder" status. Remember the newspaper would not talk to Fraboni on the first go-round, so my guess is the television station will leave the Citizen-Times alone during its own internal strife. Once again, quid pro quo in Ashvegas.
