thanks folks!
the production facility is closing. 60 jobs. there will still be another 10% reduction at ACT.
Hey Ash ~ It’s official. The Sardis Rd production facility will close, 60 employees get axed, Greenville will handle the printing. See this story posted on the Citizen-Times site: http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008811210340
The hammer fell tonight, according to a friend of a friend. Here’s what was passed to me in an email:
"Went into work tonight , and EVERYONE is fired at the A.C.T. production facility except for 3 people.
"The entire pressroom: All publications done here are being printed in Greenville.
"The entire mailroom/production staff: Will no longer be inserting papers, mailing papers, anything."
Can’t agree on the production statement having seen it first hand, but it’s a little sad to see the AC-T in this state. I liked the paper better in the early 90s through 2000, but it’s fading fast now. The AC-T is going to be a shell of itself fairly soon. Some entity will need to rise up and fill the void.
I wouldn’t trust that comment. There are two typos in it, so either it comes from someone who knows little about the profession or a person let go for obvious reasons.
