The BB&T building is one of the only modern structures in the downtown area. Without it, the city would really seem like a town lost in time. I hope they get permission to develop some more property downtown and make the place attractive to people from anywhere else.
I think it is a beautiful building, it looks like the Seagram Building. Its a clean design, function over form. It should serve as a reminder that Asheville once aspired to grow up and become a real city.

The BB&T Building is certainly one of the UGLIEST buildings anywhere. It remains so totally out of place in downtown Asheville.
If wish it could have its exterior re-clad so that at least it would be more modern looking. If were re-clad in all-glass, it would at least reflect the surrounding buildings and the mountains.
Inside it is also very dated and unattractive. For years there has been a huge ground floor retail space that has been empty. A nice restaurant or cocktail lounge on the top floor would do well given the nice views from this structure.
God what an ugly eyesore in our city! If only the owner would do something with it to help the appearance of our downtown!
