Judge throws out lawsuit against Duke Energy

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has thrown out a challenge of federal tax credits for Duke Energy’s Cliffside power-plant expansion and eight other coal-fired power plants.
Appalachian Voices filed the lawsuit in March, after the federal government awarded $1 billion in credits to nine “clean coal” projects, including Cliffside.

The credits had been authorized in a 2005 energy bill to reward power plants that release less pollution than most. Coal-fired plants are major sources of pollutants that form ozone and toxic mercury and are linked to global warming.

Appalachian Voices claimed that the Treasury and Energy departments broke the law by not studying the environmental impact of the “clean coal” projects.

But U.S. District Judge Ricardo Urbina dismissed the lawsuit on Monday.

I appreciate US District Judge for dismissing the law suit against <a href="http://www.linkenergy.us/">clean coal</a>. It would be very much helpful in developing nuclear for small sectors. Thanks for giving such an awesome information.

I agree with what you are saying-Coal-fired plants are major sources of pollutants that form ozone and toxic mercury and are linked to global warming.
