Here’s another local obituary of note. I’d link to it, but the local newspaper’s obituary site isn’t working right now.

Arthur “Chase” Ambler Jr. died Friday. He was 77. Ambler had a life-long love of swimming and diving. He coached swimming at The Asheville School for 26 years, and the lovely pool at the school is named in his honor. Ambler was a graduate of The Asheville School, a private prep school, and went on to UNC Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the swimming and diving team.

Ambler had other interests, as well. He won awards for his photography. He was the technical director for a number of plays and musicals in Asheville. He climbed Mt. Blanc. He served on local boards, including Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Asheville Community Arts Council and was executive director of the Asheville Community Concerts series.

Morris Funeral Home on Merrimon Avenue is in charge of arrangements.
