Filming Arizona

There was a buzz on the streets of Ashvegas this past week as a video crew, led by none other than Chusy Jardine, shot scenes for a music video of the Asheville band Arizona. Jardine made the movie Anywhere, USA, which won an award at Sundance earlier this year. The movie, originally titled Asheville: The Movie is apparently being screened at some upcoming film festivals, according to the movie’s web site.

Jardine held an invitation-only screening of the movie at the Fine Arts Theatre earlier this summer, but he has yet to show it to the people of Asheville. Which is interesting, since it pokes fun at our quirky town and stars, almost exclusively, Asheville residents who are not professional actors. From what I understand, though, film festivals are picky and don’t want a movie screened before the festival screens it. Whatever. I guess the bottom line is that the Sundance recognition has yet to translate into a movie distribution deal for Jardine, which is too bad. He’s put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into his artwork.

Anyway, the filming on Wall Street took up a whole morning. Not sure when or where the Arizona video will be debuted. But hopefully, the people of Asheville will get to see it.
