The Shreveport Times says that Asheville’s Deltec Homes is getting in on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition action:
Rutledge Builders will be among a group of builders selected from Louisiana and across the nation to lead the construction of an “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” home in Katrina-ravaged New Orleans.
“When approached by ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,’ we did not hesitate to say yes,” said John Rutledge, owner and manager of Rutledge Builders. “My family and I are very honored to help make another family’s dream come true and at the same time help our state, Louisiana, take another step forward in its recovery from one of the most devastating natural disasters in our nation’s history.”
The ABC show made the announcement last week at the International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla. and at a press conference held at Disney World.
The seven-day build in the greater New Orleans area is the show’s last stop on a 50-state tour and will wrap up the show’s season. The build will be March 6-14, and the two-hour episode will air on May 18.
Deltec Homes, of Asheville, N.C. will serve as the lead builder and will be assisted by several builders from Louisiana and around the country. Rutledge Builders will be a major contributor in managing the build.
“We are in need of donations,” said Joseph Schlenk, director of sales and marketing for Deltec Homes. “Skilled and unskilled labor, building materials, tools and volunteers of all kinds are needed.”
Anyone interested in donating to or volunteering for the project, visit www.extremeneworleans.com. Volunteers are needed from March 8-14.
In religion news, there’s this:
