The Beer Guy says that Asheville’s newest brewery is nearing completion. Sounds like it’s gonna be ready to open in March. Awesome! Another great addition to Asheville aka Beerville USA:

We made a visit last Friday afternoon over to the new Wedge Brewing Co., which is getting ready to open in early March. And baby, this will be one great place to enjoy a few beers.

The Wedge is located in the lower back level of the historic Wedge Gallery building, facing the railroad tracks and beyond them, the French Broad River. On one side of this joint is a very cool courtyard with a pond. Along the other side is a long loading dock where customers can hang.

Owner Tim Schaller and brewer Carl Melissas (formerly with Asheville’s Green Man Brewing Co.), look to open in early March. Brewing should start in mid February. Melissas will kick off with an IPA, and seven other beers are planned including a pale ale, a pils, an organic porter, and Golum Belgian beer among the other entries. Merlin and Dragon will also make seasonal appearances.

The Wedge is the sixth brewing company in Asheville and Buncombe County (and the seventh brewery, since Asheville Pizza and Brewing operates two locations). All these spots have their own personalities, and the edge at the Wedge incluldes its location, plus Melissas, who has a lot of local fans. Personally, I can’t wait to get over there for a cold one.

They turned this gallery space into a Brewery? That’s pretty awesome.

I think I saw the mountain goats play a concert there about three years back, and now I can go get a beer in the same spot!
