My first 12-word novel: ‘The King’

I just heard about this NPR contest, which encouraged people to write 12-word novels in honor of National Novel Writing Month. The contest is over, and the month is nearly over, but I’ve been intrigued with the idea. So here’s my first. I’ll keep trying.

The King
The prince, belittled, swallowed rage.
As king, the beheadings gave bloody release.
