A month or so ago, there was some buzz in town about a new Ashvegas magazine called Lux. A few people coyly told us to be on the lookout for the new mag in October, but we never saw anything. Anybody have an update?

We also noticed somebody mentioning yet another new pub in Ashvegas called Thread. We have no idea what that’s about, either. Can anybody help us out here?

Lux and Thread are one in the same. The woman who created it found out that Lux was already taken I think, so she quickly changed the name to Thread… which I personally like better anyway. The first issue was awesome so hopefully the second one will be easier to find. (PS: "fellowsfog" from flickr did a lot of stuff for the magazine, and even has a profile in the back)

I found a copy of Thread at the Dripolator a couple weeks ago. Real nice full-color publication. I’ll try to dig it up and send photogs if yer interested.

Thread is a pretty great new mag covering the local arts of all kinds: they do in-depth interviews with visual artists, musicians, crafters, and other people mostly on the gen X, gen Y cusp. They have an edgy, DIY feel. The writers are often artists interviewing other artists. Their magazine is shiny and I love the pics. I found it at a coffee shop, but now I can’t remember which one.
