For the 6 o’clock news on Saturday, WLOSer Carolyn Ryan held down the anchor duties. She led off with the story about the deadly hit-and-run on Merrimon Avenue early Saturday. For all the details, scroll down.

In other news, WLOSers said traffic backed up on I-26 after a man fell asleep behind the wheel of his car, hit a guard rail and flipped his car near the Long Shoals Road exit. Nobody was hurt… An Asheville man was arrested and charged with burglary and rape in the Burton Street neighborhood… Kassandra Pride, sporting a lei, reported live from Canton, where the Beach Boys will play the town’s 2007 Paper Bowl Concert. The day included a car show, too, and is all an effort to keep raising money to help the town recover from the floods of 2004. Special K said that a WLOSer will be on stage with the Beach Boys, but she didn’t say who.

In still other news, the statewide ban on outdoor burning remains in effect… The Powerball jackpot is $300 million for the drawing tonight… And the 25th annual Goombay festival kept downtown Ashvegas hopping.

If it’s not written down on that dang notebook she’s always reading from on camera, I doubt she knows it.

She probably knew who it was going to be, but wanted to tease people watching the 6pm to come back to find out at 11pm. Most probably knew, though

What I don’t understand is that Pat and Tammy told us on Friday that Larry Blunt would be with the Beach Boys…

Did anyone think to mention this tidbit to Kassandra? Or was she just not paying attention? (I think she was on the air sometime Friday afternoon)
