C’mon folks, can’t you realize that Asheville, NC, is closer to Mayberry than the big city. Surely you know that towns smaller than Asheville don’t even have TV stations. As a result, it should make sense that the competent folks move on (see Heather Childers, Candace Little, Emily Lopez, etc). What we are left with are the incompetent buffoons such as Stan Pamfilis (with his ground level high school football highlights) and the omnipresent Darcel Grimes. That’s OK. This is Asheville, NC, not Atlanta or Charlotte or even Greensboro. Face it – Asheville is not a big city and is never going to generate the types of news stories that you people seem to want. Compare the murder rate in Asheville to Charlotte or Atlanta. Asheville pales in comparison, right? So what do you expect these people to report on?? Huh??? Really, how can you expect any different from an outfit that let Bob Caldwell hang around for 40 years?? If you want professional news, watch CNN or Fox (if you are a Republican) or MSNBC or something like that. When you watch WLOS just relax and chill out amd recognize it for what it is.
Notice the other job openings for the 10pm show, i.e. photographer and editor, were taken down without being filled.
New show with only two new hires. That’s how you save money. I’m surprised it wasn’t just a one anchor show with Holly.
Holly has very limited qualifications for the job. She started here as an AP and convinced management to put her on air. Her news judgement is poor and her knowledge of current events, local, national and international is worse. She reads the news but doesn’t feel the news. She is however a blonde and the GM loves blondes!
Does anyone know what Holly’s qualifications are for the job? Has she ever worked anywhere else? Who else was in the running?
Holly Headrick and Frank Fraboni will be the anchors and some girl from PBS will produce…sounds pretty boring to ME!
AMEN! WLOS is already poor at news, WMYA will be much….much….worse, but does it really matter as long as the FAT CATS are making money! This worst part about this 10 oclock show is it will reduce overall quality. This show will not be different. Unless they want to spend some REAL money and hire good directors and good production people with a whole new set…it will be the same crap they put on at 11pm. No new producer can change the level of quality..no new anchor can…it takes a true commitment from the managers and owners….SINCLAIR…don’t think SO! P.S. if they do change the set and the way the news is produced then you must say to yourself, then why can’t they do that on WLOS….OH YEAH…they don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. F-OFF! Let go and make some money!
They’re just going to promote a reporter who is already there…its a shit newscast that’s not even on WLOS!!! Why would they spend money, when they can give a wanna be anchor a tiny raise and get the same outcome…no viewers..
Maybe they will bring in an Asian female anchor, that would be nice!
Someone who will look like a child next to the older male anchor choices. Talent gets you nowhere but ass kissing does.
And the anchors for the 10pm shitcast are…….?
Does it really matter if WLOS brings in all new anchors for this 10pm newscast? NO! The piece of shit set will still be the same and the production will be the worst in the market like it has been for many…many years. No one in the newsroom has even discussed operationally what they can expect for this newscast. Of course…that doesn’t really matter…we got some anchors…the producer….and some leftovers from the 6pm and 11pm….lets have a great newscast. Give me a break!
No matter what they do for their 10oclock, it doesn’t matter. All they care about is making money. While this sounds great for the big bosses, this is bad news for the people of Asheville. WHY? Simple! The more news they produce the more their product will suffer even worse. The seven or eight people at the station that do know what their doing will be pushed to limits and annoyed by the lack of quality…thus making them want to hate the station and finally leave. You can fool most viewers but you can’t fool your own employees.
WYFF doesn’t have one, as was pointed out.
Most market leaders don’t, which is why WMYA has a 10 o’clock…instead of News 13.
Wrong about WLOS being last station in market to have 10pm. WYFF does not.
Don’t freak out John, I’m just taking what was said in the promo…
I still think the 10 pm show outta include some new faces to try to set theirselves as being different from the WLOS broadcasts. Remember when FOX 21 started their 10 pm show a long time ago? It was produced by WSPA but it had different anchors.
NO Way Mountain Man, they are making money off that 6:30 piece of crap, so that ain’t going nowhere!
WLOS ran a new promo last night for the upcoming 10 pm show and I think this may actually be a replacement of instead of an addition to the 6:30 show because it said "News 13 on My 40 now at a new time, 10 pm."
I would think WLOS would be better off by having a live newscast on Sundays rather than replaying the tape from the previous night.
Sometimes I think they have difficulty coming up with enough stories to fill the existing timeslots…so now they are just adding MORE time for "filler" stories!
Once the 10pm newscast is lauched, WLOS/WMYA will produce more hours of news MOnday thru Friday tham any TV station in North and South Carolina! Again, IN ASHEVILLE…where News is slow! So much for quality!
