It’s never too early to start planning for Brewgrass, that annual beer bacchanal right here in Ashvegas. As you’ll recall, last year we were all crammed into The Block and it was hot and there weren’t enough port-a-johns for all us drinkers. This year’s venue will be the much more accomodating MLK Park in Ashvegas, although we’re sure it will be packed out with beer hounds and beer goddesses and blue grass freaks.

Of the bands listed on the Brewgrass web site, we’re only familiar with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, whom we adore, and Buncombe Turnpike, a band we saw a couple of years ago at Bele Chere and weren’t all that impressed with. Still, it should be a fun party.
The date for Brewgrass is Sept. 22. Mark it.
Here’s the rest:
We have a great line up for this year’s music and over 40 breweries will once again be in attendance. Musically, we are proud to bring to the stage this year, two bluegrass stalworts Dry Branch Fire Squad and the Kenny and Amanda Smith Band. We have also been able to bring three up and coming notables. First are the Carolina Chocolate Drops, who were the talk of everyone at Merle Fest. We also have Asheville locals Buncombe Turnpike who just finished in the top six of a nationally aired CMT video contest as the only bluegrass band. Ryan Shupe is from Utah and fills the slot traditionally held by a band that takes bluegrass in a totally different direction. Previous Brewgrass bands that come to mind are Yonder Mountain and Blueground Undergrass.
In order to ease the “will-call” lines, Brewgrass has teamed up with E-Tix to allow attendees to print their ticket prior to arrival at the event. Click on the Etix logo to order on line. Remember, there are a limited number of tickets and we have sold out for the past several years.
