Asheville burlesque artists and others are bringing the Americana Burlesque and Sideshow Festival (a.k.a. ABSFEST) to the Orange Peel Social Aid & Pleasure Club and the Future of Tradition Center for Folkloric Arts in Asheville on July 13-15.
The festival is dedicated to the history, revival and evolution of burlesque and sideshow art forms throughout American history. Headlined by Princess Farhana of Hollywood and the regional royalty of burlesque, the Rebelles, the weekend features two days of workshops, a Friday evening historical review and artists’ panel, and a Saturday night “You Can’t Not Look!” gala show at the Orange Peel.
