Oh, the joys of live television. Let’s recap, just to be sure we heard right over the past few days:

Julie Weather?

Russ “Nice Buns” Bowen was tossing the talk over to Julie “It’s a wonder I’m ever right” Wunder the other night, when he blundered. “And now let’s go to Julie Weather…”

Russ corrected himself, and joked it off by saying that Julie’s so good they like to call her Julie Weather, or something like that. Nice save, Russ. But you’re still going to be stuck on weekend anchor duty.

Scott Wand-er-sham
Scott Wickersham got a little too happy with his wand during the 6 on Monday night. All that playing with himself apparently diverted his attention.

A “Never Stop Learning” report was about a guy who uses magic tricks to get kids interested in class. After the report, Scottie-too-Hottie pulled out his own wand, waved it around, shook it in Tammy’s face and made a couple of jokes.

Then at the end of the broadcast, Scott ended by saying thanks for watching, “Nightline is next.” What?? Actually, World News Tonight was next, because Nightline follows the 11. You could see everyone at the big desk reacting to Swick’s blooper, but their mics were cut off and the broadcast ended.

Scottie, from now on, keep your wand to yourself.

JenX tongue-tied

JenX had a hard time talking on the 11 tonight. She stumbled three times. Everyone makes mistakes. I understand. What I didn’t understand, though, was her report about Rashad getting injured in Charlotte. She talked about that and about how other guys had great workouts, including Raymond Felton and Deron Williams. That was about it.

But during that report, the TV station’s ticker at the bottom of the screen said “Deron Williams pulls out of NBA draft.” Folks, that is big news. But there was no mention of it in the report, and I couldn’t find anything online. What’s going on?

As long as we’re “knit picking,” in the version of Janet’s post in the “What you said” section, you misquote her. Her post here reads, “I hope you’re perfect at your job at the Citizen Times.” On “What you said,” it’s missing the words “at the Citizen Times.” Then again, blogs aren’t exactly bastions of accuracy, spelling (knit picking) or snide toned corrections while making a worse mistake (modifying a poster’s contribution), or (probably) some error I’ve made in this post.

If you’re going to criticize WLOS (which we obviously all enjoy, else we wouldn’t be here), don’t take the juvenile “yeah, so, but you can’t spell” approach to criticism of your own piece of the media landscape.

Wow, you really do knit pick. I hope you’re perfect at your job at the Citizen Times. It sure seems like you must be considering how mean spirited you’ve become.

In Scott’s defense, Tammy originally brought out the magic wand and then she handed it to Scott.
