We predict Ashvegas will be virtually shut down by Wednesday night, before nary a flake falls. Here’s the latest from the National Weather Service:

ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL EXPECTED LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY.

A COLD AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION TONIGHT…AS MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER THE GULF COAST MOVES NORTH ACROSS THE REGION. MOSTLY SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE WATCH AREA DURING THE DAY THURSDAY… WITH SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE…MAINLY OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THE SNOW WILL MIX WITH SLEET…LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN THURSDAY AFTERNOON…BUT SOME ADDITIONAL ICE AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS MAY LINGER INTO THURSDAY EVENING.

Ron… I think the average age of 91 thing is reasonable, I would not want to be that age and take the chance of HAVING to go out in that crap.

We people of a little less than half that age bounce better.

    I think.

I don’t know how you aren’t stark raving mad from watching the 13. I had it on today- yes to check the status of the impending snow/sleet/freezing rain/ slushy mix (did they cover all the bases here?) and i thought i was going to be physically ill. How much juice can one squeeze out of the lil ol lady who got dropped off in the cold by those bad guys at Mountain Mobility?

Boss called (at 4pm) and said I may be imprisoned at work tomorrow morning b/c 1st shift people who can’t come in, you know, to relieve the third shift. She suggested I bring a sleeping bag. *sigh* Just once I’d like for the situation to be reversed: *I* get to make a phone call to work at 11pm, "Hi, sorry, the roads are icy and I refuse to drive until they clear up. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow."

The sad thing is no one on 3rd shift has ever called in – and I’ve been riding a scooter for 3 winters.

I know I lived for 20 years among the Yankees, but I’d expect people in the mountains to do better than this…

I don’t guys. This might be the big one. All the cashiers’ stations were manned at Ingles this afternoon. I think that’s one of the signs of the Apocalypse.

The store was packed, and I noticed that the average age of the customers was about 91. What do you s’pose that means?

The missus and I are all set if there is a storm. We have a two-month supply of hardtack and government cheese.

OMG! My dermatologist’s office just called. They’re already cancelling all appointments for tomorrow, because of POSSIBLE bad weather. Apocalypse, indeed.

Oooooo, movie rentals! Good idea, Screwy. Although my kids won’t let me near the DVD player. I haven’t seen a movie other than High School Musical or Hoodwinked in months!

I’m going for over 300 car accidents. Minor ones all, I hope.

Let’s hope it’s at least a decent sledding day!

    Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

    Ice!!! Snow!!!

    Certain. Death!

    Must. Buy. Milk. Bread. Cocoa.

    Must. Rent. Ten. Movies.

Must. Call. In. To. Work, "I’m Iced In! I Can’t Get Out of My Driveway!"

    ———

Can we take some bets on how many cars will slide off the road? The last "storm" had over 250 car wrecks.

    Maybe an Over/Under game…

300 car accidents. Over or Under?
