‘The Ashevillians’ photo project aims to document streets of Asheville

Drum circles are a standard feature in Asheville, drawing locals and tourists alike, but seldom do they bring the intensity that flashed for a moment one evening this past summer – a moment captured by Gary Peeples in his image, “Drummer.”

It’s the inaugural image in “The Ashevillians,” a digital street photography project created by Peeples, an amateur Asheville photographer.

The core of the exhibit is a tumblr blog, theashevillians.tumblr.com, though viewers can also track the exhibit on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TheAshevillians. The digital exhibit will unfold over time as images are added every Sunday and Wednesday.
