Can’t wait for The Dark Knight Rises?  Me neither.

Fortunately for us, the Regal Biltmore Grande is offering a Dark Knight marathon Thursday night, screening Christopher Nolan’s previous two Batman films before a midnight show of the series’ final chapter.

Tickets are $25 and include a free small popcorn.  Members of Regal’s Crown Club will receive an additional 20 credits for each ticket.

The schedule is:

  • Batman Begins – 6:30
  • The Dark Knight – 9:00 PM
  • The Dark Knight Rises – 12:01 AM

If you’ve yet to attend a movie marathon, I highly encourage it.  Back in 2003, during the middle of winter exams, two friends and I drove from Greensboro to Winston-Salem for Trilogy Tuesday to mark the release of The Return of the King.  Beginning mid-morning, the theater showed the 4-hour extended editions of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, the latter of which had yet to be released on extended edition DVD.  The day was one to remember and fitting of a series as well-made as Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings.

Since then, only two series have come close to reaching those Hobbit highs: the Bourne films and Nolan’s Batman flicks.  The Regal marathon is a fine way to experience the Dark Knight trilogy in concentrated, sequential form and get a leg up on your fellow viewers.  So, get some rest, load up on caffeine, and don’t worry: there will be restroom breaks.

UPDATE: The Carolina will show the 1966 Batman film in their upstairs Cinema Lounge on Friday and Saturday.

Biltmore Parke doesn’t scare me nearly as much as obsessed fanboys do.

Every film should be viewed with a critical eye. Even one that appears to have as much going for it as THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

I wish the Carolina offered something like this… Biltmore Park scares me.

The Carolina is doing a midnight screening. I’ve asked about other events and will update when I hear back.
