Tar Heels ignored

During her dumb sports segment, WLOSer Jenny Dunn totally ignored the Tar Heels’ victory Friday over Cal. State Fullerton in the College World Series. The Tar Heels won in amazing fashion, 7-5, in 13 innings. It was the second longest game in College World Series history.

Sad story
WLOSer Cherub Charu brought us an update on the sad and still inexplicable death of little Avery King, the toddler run over a few weeks back in a McDonald’s parking lot in Georgia. The little girl was killed, and her mother, a pregnant Anita King, was injured, as was Anita King’s sister and Anita King’s two nephews.

The family showed Charu through their Weaverville home, filled with photos of Avery. They also showed Charu Avery’s nursery, still decorated.

The family says it wants to build a playground/park to honor Avery’s memory.

Still talking about the earthquake
WLOSers said people were still talking about the minor earthquake that hit about 9 p.m. on Thursday near the Tennessee-North Carolina state line. It was mostly felt in Haywood, Jackson and Swain counties in Western North Carolina. The quake was a 3.1 magnitude.

WLOS had no clue about how to explain this story… There’s a check scam somewhere. Again, WLOS had no details… Ashvegas police chased a suspected drunk driver in the Shiloh community and the driver ended up cracking up in the CarePartners parking lot off Sweeten Creek Road… They’ll be no relief from North Carolina’s 29.9-cent gas tax.
