The Asheville Downtown Association kicks off the 65th Annual Asheville Holiday Parade this Saturday. The weather is going to be perfect and there's a whole day of free fun planned. The parade marches up Biltmore at 11 am and turns left onto Patton to French Broad. Downtown restaurants will be open early and ready for the parade and there's a funnel cake tent at Pritchard Park. The theme this year is DAYS GONE BY so expect to see lots of vintage cards, and costumes galore, 1950's Rock & Roll Christmas songs, and strolling carolers and characters from Turn of the Century Christmas. The Costume Shoppe will feature costumes from many different days gone by and the Junior League of Asheville (sponsored by Belk) is celebrating 85 years with vintage cars and costumes. The Wells Fargo stage coach for that old timey Wild West and so much more. And then the Old World Santa will arrive in a horse drawn surrey. After parade, meet Santa at Pack Square Park. Plus the decorated llamas, and several dance performances from the parade. Plan on walking the Downtown Holiday WIndows Tour (about 40 decorated windows throughout downtown – list available at http://www.ashevilledowntown.org. Parking is available in all city and county lots (except the small lot on BIltmore), and also private lots. See you Saturday.
