Press release here:

The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority announces a new funding cycle for the Tourism Product Development Fund (TPDF). An applicant information meeting will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, in the Asheville Merchants Corporation Boardroom (2nd floor) of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce (36 Montford Avenue). Applications are due on Monday, January 9, 2012.

The TPDF was established to provide financial assistance for tourism capital projects that will significantly increase overnight room stays in Buncombe County and, subsequently, create a greater economic benefit for the entire community. Since 2001, one percent of the four percent occupancy tax has been dedicated to the fund. Both for-profit and non-profit businesses are eligible to apply for funds. Funds can be awarded as a grant, loan guaranty or pledge of debt service.

All projects must meet the core criteria of destination brand alignment, economic impact, and return on investment based on estimated new room nights generated. Additional criteria will be assessed if a project meets the core criteria.

Previous cycles have awarded funding totaling $13,683,500 to 14 community projects. For applications and more information, visit AshevilleCVB.com.
