Note here from loyal reader Jake:
Jason,
Hi, My name is Jake Cotler and I wanted to write to you about a project I recently started called “Jam in the Van.” I’ve attached a press release to this email which details our particulars. You can also see what we do at www.jaminthevan.com and at www.facebook.com/jaminthevan (like us on there if you can please).
I am writing to you because as an Asheville native (AHS class of ’01) I read your blog and like to keep up to date with what’s going on in the city that I grew up in. I know that the music scene there is burgeoning and that you post a lot of blogs in regards to music around town. So I was hoping that maybe you could throw our website some love on your blog, as it is sort of a hometown creation. It would also help us to start getting a presence in Asheville. We’re located in Venice, CA now, but I am really hoping to get some stuff going over on the east coast, especially in Asheville, in the near future.
Please let me know what you think of our site and if you would be willing to blog about us that would be great. Also if you have any other contacts in town, be they press or venue or anything, it would all be much appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Jake Cotler
Press release here:
Music television is dead. CD sales are circling the drain. The same few mega-music acts dominate the downloads. Where can you find top quality fresh music? Along with what’s behind the music in the artists’ own words? Check out Jaminthevan.com.
Jam in the Van is exactly what it says it is. A Titanic sized RV has been gutted and re-built into a mobile music machine with full sound and HD video recording capability. Bands and musicians representing all genres come to the Van, perform a short set and then talk about themselves and their music. The music and interviews videos are edited, mixed and then uploaded to the Jam in the Van site and the Jam in the Van Facebook page. Not only do the musicians come to the Van, but the Van goes to the musicians. In the works are road trips to music festivals across the country where we get up close and personal with the music and the people who make it, where they make it.
In the few weeks it’s been live, Jam in the Van already has hundreds of followers on Facebook and the Jam in the Van site.
