The latest issue of Verve magazine is on the streets, and as usual, it’s filled with fantastic photography, stylish local ladies and newsy features about the work of women. This issue marks the third anniversary of Verve. From editor Jess McCuan:
Finally, the sparks fly every time I work on an issue of VERVE, and this issue marks our third anniversary. When we published our first issue, in May 2008, I never could have imagined how much work and time such a magazine would call for. Nor did I know then how much I would enjoy putting out every single issue. Creating VERVE is a defining aspect of my Asheville life, and I’m grateful to everyone who contributes and offers their help and support.
Happy reading,
Jess McCuan

In those three short years, Verve has established itself on the local scene, and other publications have taken notice – most notably the magazine Sophie, a production of Iwanna. Sophie is mostly filled with poorly written pablum about how to send a thank you note or talk to your girlfriend. But lately, it’s tried to step up its game in the news feature department, and in the photography department.
Verve still has the local women magazines beat. Check out the latest issue and you’ll find everything from news about a collaborative River Arts District art show to a news feature about local anti-nuke activists. You’ll find insights into local personalities including philanthropic organization mover-and-shaker Beth Maczka and singer Molly Kummerle. And plenty more.
Congratulations to Verve and its publishers, Planet Zeuss Media.
