Word on the street: City of Asheville lays off 10 employees

Word on the street is that the city of Asheville has cut the jobs of about 10 employees and shown them the door. I’ve looked around and haven’t seen any reporting on this, so it will be unconfirmed at this point. As we know, city, county and state governments are struggling with budgets in this down economy.

There are pink slips going out to quite a few employees of Buncombe Co. Schools right now as well: Teachers, assistants, and Central Office employees.

Don't forget the Citizen Times is doing the same at the end of this month. At least in one Department. Very sad that companies that make profits do it by getting rid of employees that have given there life to them.

…. maybe they were all from the APD as a result of the evidence room scandal.
