E!Online’s blog, Ted Casablanca’s The Awful Truth, reports:

While some may be questioning the male lead casting choices for the Hunger Games announced yesterday, both the filmmakers and the book’s author are super confident in the decision to go with Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. …

While Hunger Games director Gary Ross praised Hutcherson’s casting as Peeta, “I feel so lucky that we found someone who embodies every aspect of such a complex character,” producer Nina Jacobson lauded Hemsworth, saying, “Gale’s journey across the three books transforms him, and Liam’s performance left no doubt that he would take us there.”
