From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

In 1960, four African-American college students sat down at a Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greensboro. The café was segregated, and the students were denied service. The action started a years-long, national nonviolent protest movement against segregation

Franklin McCain, one of the original four students, will speak tonight in the Humanities Lecture Hall at UNC Asheville. The free event starts at 6 p.m. with a documentary about the sit-ins, followed by McCain’s talk at 7.

The theme of McCain’s talk will be “finding your own inner inspiration to do what you believe is right, instead of waiting for others.”
