The poll is posted on imbibe.com’s homepage. Last I checked the results, Asheville was running in sixth place, behind cities like Louisville, in the top spot, New Orleans and Nashville.

Thanks to loyal reader David for passing along the link.

The over-hyped "BeerCity" label is totally bogus and the result of an online poll…it's ridiculous and lacks credibility for sure. Of course there are some good local brews, but this isn't something a city should hype up and try to hang its hat on. I've yet to find a really great, cool cocktail lounge here. The potential for that is good, but folks in Asheville and WNC just seem to prefer beer and greasy food…just look at the waistlines!

I would love to be impressed by some cocktails in Asheville, but at this moment I have yet to find a bar that offers clean, unique, and intriguing drinks.

And yes, I've been to Sazerac.

Where else should I be looking?
