Once again, it’s Asheville peeps taking it to the next level. Press release here:

Tattooing and seafaring have gone together since the 1700s, when Captain Cook’s crew encountered a tribe of decorated Polynesians and brought home their own tattoos as souvenirs. Now, the Asheville-based company, Freaks & Geeks Productions, is writing the next chapter in the maritime story of tattooing. The inaugural Red, White & Blue Tattoo Cruise will be the first event ever to offer tattooing onboard a ship. It will sail from Port Canaveral, Fla., October 5-8, 2011, aboard the Norwegian Sun.

The event will feature some of the best tattoo artists in the business, but that’s where similarities with other tattoo conventions end. The Red, White & Blue Tattoo Cruise will also offer guests special events with time to soak up rays poolside, explore the islands and gamble in international waters.

Early confirmed artists include Myke Chambers, James Clements, Kris Roberts and James Vaughn. Kingpin Tattoo Supply is the official tattoo supply company for the cruise.

Registration is now open online here and space is very limited. Prices begin at $527 per person for an inside cabin. Oceanview, balcony and penthouse cabins are also available.
