The chances of such a tiny airline actually succeeding are pretty slim. There is not much of a market for airline passengers to the Florida panhandle region. Even Southwest started service last year to the new NW Florida Beaches Airport and is having trouble filling seats, but will continue since they receive subsidies to fly there.
Southwest Airlines will begin service to/from both Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP) and Charleston (CHS) this spring.
Southwest will fly from those cities to: Chicago, Houston, Nashville, Orlando and Baltimore.
Wait, SW is going to start running flights out here? Hell yeah.
Is this in addition to Southwest, which will begin flying out of Greencville on March 13?
Their website already shows flights out of Asheville.
See "Downtown Asheville's Flying Frog Cafe to close" at http://www.citizen-times.com/article/20110117/NEWS/301170043. Says the both the restaurant and the bar are closing.
Their website lists routes from Asheville to Fort Walton Beach and to Tampa/St. Pete. Not sure when service begins though.
