    I've lived in Asheville and ate perhaps 5 times pizza totally while am here and never like any. Having lived in Italy for 30 years, I found the pizza restaurant owners try to do too much, as adding some type of oil, or dry milk powder, or magarine into the dough making it oily and greasy. Pizza itself is quite simple stuff. Flour, water and fresh beer yeast if possible, or dry yeast is ok too, then it depends on the quality of toppings that one use.
    I bought a slice of pizza at FAvilla, and liked the dough, so I went back already 2 times, just to buy the dough and cooked at home using my own toppings.
    The fact that I came back 2 times is a good indicator. The dough smells heavenly of fresh yeast, it is tender with a nice crust at the bottom. You can taste genuine quality of fresh ingredients.

    Although I did not buy a whole pizza with toppings of the shop, the slice I bought was real good. I agree with avlviasocal, the sauce is rather thin the cheese not soagy…just as I like it. 2 thumps up fpr FAVILLA pizza.

    The pizza here is awesome! It's definitely not like Trio's or any of the other pizza places in town. Business was booming when I was there, so luckily it looks like they'll be around to stay.

    Just tried a slice of cheese pizza for lunch. I thought it was very good – fresh and hot. The sauce was more on the salty/thin/lighter side, which is the way I like it, rather than sweet and thick and tomato pasty. My boss, who is a ex-NY pizza snob said he liked it as well! I will definitely give it a go next time I order a pie.

    @Jake

    I would like to address your assertion that Favilla's is the old Trio's and let you know the actual situation. The Liotta family owns Trio's in Candler. Andy & David Favilla own Favilla's NY Pizza. While it is true that they had worked for the Liotta's in the past, they were never part of the ownership of Trio's at any time. There is no business arrangement or any association between Trio's and Favilla's at all.

    Hope you might give them a try and then let me know what you think 🙂

    Duh. Damn, I should have known it was that simple! I never heard takeout referred to as 'pickup.'

    There is nothing new about this other than a name – this is the old Trio's run by the same people – same place, new name.

    What does the "Pickup" part of Pickup-Delivery-Catering mean?
