The holidays can really get to people. From the Hendersonville Times-News:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A police spokesman says it’s unlikely charges will be filed against a North Carolina woman so upset about her financial situation she walked into a TV station and put what turned out to be an unloaded gun to her head.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokesman Robert Fey said Wednesday the woman was only a threat to herself — not to anyone in WSOC-TV’s studios in Charlotte.

Fifty-one-year-old Wendy Cosby Naidas of Conover was undergoing a mental evaluation at a Charlotte hospital.

Police say Naidas walked into the lobby of the TV station during its Tuesday evening news broadcast. The station went off the air for about an hour and the building was evacuated and locked down.

Fromer WLOSer Scott Wickersham works at WSOC, btw. Thanks to loyal reader Lightnin’ for pointing me to this.

An "F" for geography. Last time I checked Charlotte was in NC, not in "upstate SC".

Ash – you so rarely make a mistake I hate to point it out – but Charlotte is not in Upstate SC
