On Broadway: Former Old North State

Word on the street is that Hector Diaz, the owner of one of Asheville’s best restaurants, is looking at moving his Mexican-Carribean eatery to a new location.

Salsa’s is currently on Patton Avenue close to Pack Square. It’s a small restaurant – always packed, always delicious. It’s been around since 1994 and sometimes gets overlooked, in my opinion, because it’s been around and it’s consistently great.

Word is that he’s considering moving to a much bigger location on down on Broadway. The location is the former Old North State location, just a few doors away from Tingle’s Cafe.

If the move happens, we might have to call Broadway Asheville’s new restaurant row. Over the past couple of years, Broadway has added Tingle’s and Sazerac, as well as the rejuvenated Old Europe Cafe. Broadway already is home to Green Sage, Mellow Mushroom, Olive or Twist and Rosetta’s.

Olive or Twist: You aren't missing anything. I'm surprised they are still open.

There's also a breakfast-focused place across the street from Tingle's and Sazerac, isn't there?

Hey Ash, it's actually Olive or Twist (say it out loud – I assume it's a play on Oliver Twist). Anyone been there? I still haven't checked it out.
