Recalling Asheville ABC Board’s embezzlement case

A loyal Ashvegas reader, beaverlake, reminds me that Asheville’s ABC Board has been at the center of controversy before. Back in 2002, a board employee was charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from the board. The defendant appealed and won in the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2005 after the court found that she was charged under the wrong statute. I’ll have to go back and look to see what happened after that.
