There’s an interesting sidebar in this month’s Bold Life magazine about a woman who lives near Sylva and maintains a website called www.skyshipsovercashiers.com. Mary Joyce, a former newspaper columnist, collects all kinds of stories on her website, from sightings of odd airplane chemical trails and other aerial sights in the mountains to alleged reports of aliens torturing humans.

In the Bold Life story, Joyce raises questions about what’s going on at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute, a former government-run spy site in the Pisgah National Forest that’s now an education center. From the story:

Joyce claims she has reliable information about an underground network of secret government buildings beneath the Balsam Mountain ridge that has PARI as its entrance.

The story quotes a PARI official saying there’s nothing ominous going on. The Joyce piece runs as a side bar to a Bold Life cover story about PARI’s upcoming star party.

On her website, Joyce reprints a 2009 story from the Transylvania Times weekly newspaper in Transylvania County. From the story:

Glynis Heenan said the reason she and her friends in the Cashiers area are shining the light on “sky ships” is to inspire others.

Heenan and others in Cashiers and the surrounding area claim in the past few months to have seen “sky ships,” or UFOs as they are more commonly referred to.

“We’re going public to give people the courage to talk about their own experiences,” Heenan said.

The sightings have inspired Heenan, who has lived in Cashiers for 10 years, to help launch a web site: skyshipsovercashiers.com.

The site includes articles, photos, witness testimonies and ways on how to report sightings.

As reported on the site, Heenan said she had her first sighting at about 2 a.m. on June 28.

Check out Joyce’s site to see photos of the alleged star ships, read more stories about local UFO sightings and learn how to report your own. And let’s be careful out there.

There is not life else where that can build space ships. They would have to have thumbs and be able to pick themselves off the ground to build anything that flies. Life on other planets might be in the form of bacteria that if we even came close to it could wipe out everyone on earth. Be careful what you wish for.
