Just some of what’s going around:

-Festival wrap: The Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival had another great day on Sunday. It was marked with unique wedding and had Asheville’s personalties on full display. Check out Erin’s round-up here.

-Speaking of LAAFF: There was a little preview of next year’s Freaks of Asheville calendar, which is a fundraiser for Arts 2 People, just like LAAFF. It appears that there will be another great cast of characters included in the calendar, all photo’ed by the amazing Michael Traister. On the cover: artist Suzie Millions.

-Outdoor music: The Asheville Symphony’s outdoor Labor Day concert was a huge hit. Carol Motsinger in today’s Citizen-Times

Before the first notes were played, a review was already in for the Asheville Symphony’s Labor Day performance at Pack Square Park: There should be more free, outdoor concerts like this one.

Did you hear that, city of Asheville parks people and Pack Square Conservancy? Didja?

-She’s So Unusual: Speaking of music, the Orange Peel announced that Cyndi Lauper is going to play Asheville in November. Tickets on sale on Friday. Freakin’ awesome. The music scene in Asheville is simply on fire, starting with this weekend’s Pixies show. And Asheville Mayor Terry Bellamy should give Lauper a key to the city, because Lauper’s just the kind of freak Asheville celebrates.
