One magical degree

Congratulations to weather prognisticator Mike Cabana Boy Cuevas. For Monday, he at least scored a tie.

Cuevas had predicted a new record high, and all through the afternoon, things looked doubtful. You could hear the disappointment in Cuevas’ voice on the 5 Monday afternoon as he reported that the official high temp at the airport was 91, one shy of the 92-degree record.

You could tell he was still pulling for it though, noting that there was still time left, but then adding that it was unlikely the temperature would rise, seeing as how it was already 5 p.m.

Then, like manna from heaven, Cuevas joyfully reports at 6 that the official high temp Monday did in fact tie the record at 92. Whaaaaa? Where the hell did that come from? Of course there was no explanation from Cuevas. That one magical degree just popped out of nowhere.

Did Cuevas have a plant out there at the airport reporting station who ran out and zapped the thermometer with a hair dryer or what? Guess we’ll never know.

Meantime, can Cuevas keep the heat wave going today? Time will tell, won’t it?

Official high from NWS came in, temp barely popped to 92. May have not lasted long, but it was a record..the NWS won’t hide that from you
