Downtown building collapse closes Liquid Dragon tattoo parlor

Thursday’s surprise collapse of a building behind Bouchon and next to Liquid Dragon has put the tattoo parlor temporarily out of business.

From the Liquid Dragon Facebook page:

Liquid Dragon is currently closed and will be remodeling. We will keep everyone posted on our status and will let you know when we plan to reopen.

… a building next to our shop collapsed putting a hole in our roof and water coming in flooding part of the business.

WLOS interviwed Robert Ashburn, owner of the business, who said his artists are out of work. From WLOS:

Robert Ashburn says he was getting ready to tattoo a customer when the old brick building came crumbling down. Ashburn says he ran out of the shop and hasn’t been back in since.

The building at 15 Carolina Lane collapsed due to work undertaken without a required city permit.

More as we learn more about damage to area businesses, the official reason for the collapse, and any consequences to the property owner or contractor.

    It’s really very lucky no one was hurt or killed. I feel terrible for the business owner that went through this.

    Maybe the other tattoo shops can get together to offer these artists guest spots at the many shops in town until they have a safe building.
    Seems like the right thing to do!
