Thursday, 7/13

Theater Thursdays @ Better than Unicorns


9 am – 5 pm

Sign up now for your 15 minutes experiencing virtual reality in downtown Asheville’s Collider with our featured GritVegas event of the week, Theater Thursdays. Experience cutting-edge technology in your immersive session. Better Than Unicorns is currently pairing with the Collider to show “Melting Ice,” a VR accompaniment to the upcoming Inconvenient Truth sequel, which will premiere at Asheville’s Fine Arts Theatre on August 3 in a benefit evening for the Collider.

Tina & Her Pony @ Pritchard Park Singer/Songwriter Series

6-8 pm

Catch free music from Pritchard Park from this local duo, who will sing and play cello, ukelele, and guitar in the park as part of this initiative to “activate a hub of downtown.”

Party Foul @ the Odditorium

9:30 – midnight

The nearly tasteless drag show is back at the Odditorium, and you’re invited. The evening promises “2 hours full of drag, drinks, and FILTH.” What’s not to love?

Friday, 7/14

Between Two Worlds: The New Works of Peter Parpan @ Satellite Gallery 

Opening reception 7 pm

Asheville artist Peter Parpan debuts new paintings, sculpture, and functional objects awash in color and character, revealing the truths in experiences of hardship, transcendence, and sustaining power.

Improv with the Reasonably Priced Babies @ the Altamont Theatre

8-10:30 pm

The hilarious improv comedy group takes the stage and welcomes you into their wacky world.

Supatight EP Release @ Asheville Music Hall

10 pm – 2 am

One of the most energetic, fun acts in Asheville, Supatight’s sound hearkens back to the sunny sixties and seventies while looking ahead through instrumental innovation. Come out and celebrate the release of puree, their five-song EP.

Saturday, 7/15

Meowga: Yoga with Cats @ Asheville Humane Society

10 am

Adi of Hot Yoga Asheville will lead a gentle, non-heated class at the AHS—with cats! Minimum donation of $10. Advance sign-up is required.

Urban Gypsy Trunk Show @ Mason Muffler Service

12 – 8 pm

Join everyone’s favorite fairy, Elle Erickson, and shop her found treasures, from dresses to tutus and more. Glitter and hula hoops encouraged. This is the best time shopping that you’ll ever have, guaranteed.

Papadosio’s Summer Seequence @ Pisgah Brewing

Dispel summer’s heat with the cool vibes of Papadosio, who will bring their coscmic electronic sound to Pisgah Brewing along with Kayla Scintilla, Living Light, and Futexture.

“Absurdist Gypsy Folk Funk Punk” at the sparkliest purple venue in town. Upland Drive opens.

Jane Kramer, backed by Free Planet Radio and Billy Cardine, 8 p.m. at Altamont Theatre

Asheville songstress Jane Kramer will bring her finely crafted songs to the stage in a show featuring some of Asheville’s most talented musicians. She’ll also share a few songs and stories of Scotland, which she toured this spring.

Sunday, July 16

The Big Crafty @ Pack Square Park

12 – 6 pm

Handmade crafts from Asheville and around the WNC region abound at this fun-filled community bazaar.

Deconstructing the Beatles’ Rubber Soul @ Grail Moviehouse

5 pm and 7:15 pm

The fourth and final part in this popular series about the making of Rubber Soul, which they produced in one month and which has since become one of their most beloved albums. Only two showings!

Dark Corners: An Artist Talk with Julyan Davis @ Revolve

Painter Julyan Davis returns to Revolve to give an artist talk on his exhibition, Dark Corners, which takes inspiration from classic British Isles and Appalachian murder ballads.
