Word on the street: Lexington Avenue Brewery cleaning up after band sprayed animal blood on audience

Share

UPDATE: Word on the street is that the LAB is cleaning up after a metal band playing the back room music venue at LAB sprayed animal blood on the audience. Twitter folks say they were there, while others report seeing photos. “It looked pretty brutal,” was one comment.”

ORIGINAL POST: Signs up at the Lexington Avenue Brewery in downtown Asheville announce an unexpected closure for the big craft brewery, restaurant, bar and music venue on Lexington Avenue. It’s one of the biggest entertainment venues on one of Asheville’s most beloved downtown streets.

The signs say: “Sorry for the inconvenience, we are closed for the next few days for reasons beyond our control. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to seeing you again soon.”

No word yet on what, exactly, is going on with the restaurant. According to the LAB’s page on Facebook, the brewery and restaurant is closed to take on cleaning projects.

Details to come.

The restaurant knew beforehand exactly what they were booking. Relax people, no need to get upset about it.

They did this at another show but they also had an actual pig head that they threw into the crowd and hit a girl. She has permanent damage to her eye now and can barely see out of it. This band is full of horrible people and they claim to be a Satanistic band but one of them used to be in a Christian band. They’re just out for attention and they are full of shit.

I saw pics of the after math. Not only did they spay pigs blood ell over everyone, they flooded the damn place. It looked like the scene from the shining where the elevator door opens and a sea of blood poured out. It looked disgusting. The employees were pissed. I can imagine that LAB is saying they “are cleaning up for the busy season” because they don’t need patrons thinking about the ocean of blood that was every where. There was 3-5 inches of standing puddles in places. The band is called “Young and in the Way” and went out to get wastes and left staff to clean up the mess. I don’t care if I sound old and lame. That shit is gross, fucked up, and disrespectful. Get off my lawn, mother fuckers!!!

Wow, I need to go watch “The Shining” again to get that image out of my mind. After spending my entire adult life trying to forget a movie that scared the poop out of me when I was a wee lad no less.

Cindy June 24, 2014 - 6:00 pm

What is the name of the band?

G June 24, 2014 - 4:43 pm

Maybe the cleaning project will ultimately help them make beer that doesn’t suck.

JP June 24, 2014 - 1:18 pm

When you don’t pay your bands, you take what you get.

asheville real estate June 24, 2014 - 12:02 pm

They must have used real blood if they had to close down to clean up. I hope it’s not a bio hazard!

Eric June 24, 2014 - 12:56 pm

If it is blood it is automatically a biohazard issue.

Harry June 24, 2014 - 10:28 am

Spraying animal blood all over the audience huh? Now THAT’S entertainment! I guess somebody thought it was a good idea.

reader June 24, 2014 - 10:33 am

It was definitely entertaining, so you got that right.

Harry June 24, 2014 - 10:46 am

If you find that entertaining, you are a perfect image of why our youth are so F’ d up.

Michael June 24, 2014 - 10:58 am

If you think that’s a valid criticism, you are everything that’s wrong with today’s Old Fogies. Don’t you have a lawn to keep kids off of?

Harry June 24, 2014 - 4:27 pm

No son. We’re wise enough to view those antics as disgusting, distracting, and disrespectful to the restaurant owners and employees who are now (temporarily) out of work. I’m sure you were raised to think this stuff is cool and ok. Are both of your parents in prison, or just your father?

reader June 24, 2014 - 11:05 am

PERFECT image

Food Nerd June 24, 2014 - 10:08 am

Actually I’m willing to bet it has something to do with the Black Metal influenced Hardcore band that played the Empire Tattooing anniversary party that covered themselves and a goodly part of the crowd in Pig’s Blood.

Jason Sandford June 24, 2014 - 10:33 am

yup. look’s that way.

brew_ed June 24, 2014 - 10:03 am

All of those health department point deductions are nickel and dime type stuff… Nothing that would make an owner want to shut down for part of a week. You can buy scoops with handles a little quicker than that. It is strange that the sign says “for reasons beyond our control” while the Facebook page says it’s just for some cleaning projects to make everything shiny for visitors…

Doc June 24, 2014 - 9:52 am

Oh…oh…wait. I want to change my guess to “A band dumped animal blood all over the place during a performance the other night.”

Yeah…that’s my new guess.

reader June 24, 2014 - 9:56 am

Boom

april June 24, 2014 - 9:51 am

Could also be an ALE thing…

Doc June 24, 2014 - 9:32 am

If I had to hazard a guess…I would say they are closed for reasons beyond their control.

Danny June 24, 2014 - 9:12 am

A band played there on Sunday night and sprayed pigs blood everywhere. Onto everything.

reader June 24, 2014 - 9:08 am

This is probably from the show the other night where a band played and covered themselves and most of the crowd in the back room in pig’s blood.

Jeremy June 24, 2014 - 9:02 am

Here is their last inspection, which was last week. It’s on the Health Dept’s page. They got a 96.5 so it wasn’t too nasty and I don’t see anything that would have the health dept shut them down.

Shows that this establishment has been doing a good job with their sanitizing and I’ll be there in a few weeks to have a few beers and a bite to eat. I don’t know if the rumor is true but if it is maybe this Band should be sued for the few days the Lab is closed for loss of business and for court and Lawyer fee’s, only if this rumor is true!

Svs95 June 24, 2014 - 3:06 pm

Sue a band? Since when do bands have any money? You can’t get blood out of a turnip. Oh wait. Probably not the best metaphor, considering. ;-P

boatrocker June 25, 2014 - 2:39 pm

Oooo yeah.

Murphy June 24, 2014 - 7:17 am

Their recent inspection by the Health Department on 6-17-2014 was scored 96.5…

A post on their Facebook page suggests they are closed for cleaning…

“Sorry guys . . . .

We are closed for the next few days for cleaning projects. We expect a VERY BUSY season and want to be ready for all our wonderful patrons and give you the best experience possible!

We love you all, and can’t wait to see you soon!”

Hopefully it’ll be free of pig blood for the next metal show.

Murphy June 24, 2014 - 7:10 am

What happened to their plans to open up more space next door…

Bob June 24, 2014 - 6:45 am

If I had to hazard a guess, it’s going to be health department related shut down.
