Local filmmaker Thomas Oliver sent me a heads-up on a short film he recently finished up. Here, I’ll let him tell it:
I wanted to get the word out about a short film we finished that is currently going around the festival circuit.
It’s tilted “Green River: On the Downlow” and can be viewed at http://www.kayakfilm.com.
It’s pretty much an Asheville based production centering around the whitewater community. It’s a little taste of what’s to come in our feature length film, “Raven Fork” in production now.
The short film is fun. It really shows off the beauty of our mountains in fall, and captures the free spirits who ride the mountain rapids. I’ve been wondering when someone would write a novel or make a movie centered on paddlers. Looks like Oliver is on top of it.
I plan to follow up and get some more information from Oliver on his feature-length film. Meantime, enjoy.

In the 10 years of knowing Glenn LaPlante, I’d have never thought you could pay him enough to get him to wear a tie.
I wonder why Thomas put all the rapids out of order?
Nice movie, but it’s better if you skip the first 9 minutes. Good slo-mo action.
