Hendersonville newspaper announces new publisher

Share

The New York Times Regional Media Group announced a new publisher for the Hendersonville Times-News on Monday. Roger Quinn will be based in Spartanburg, where the NYT owns the Herald-Journal newspaper. But Quinn will oversee the Hendersonville newspaper and the Lextington, N.C., Dispatch, also owned by the NYT.

This is a trend in newspapers — having publishers overseeing more than one newspaper — and it could happen in Asheville.

Gannett Co. owns both the Asheville Citizen-Times and the Greenville News down in South Carolina. The printing operation has already been moved to Greenville, and further consolidation of areas such as human resources and accounting may follow.

Thanks to loyal reader White Lightnin’ for the heads-up.
