Happy weekend, everyone! We are in the thick of summer, and there is so much happening out there to check out. Our featured event is a presentation and performance from Make Noise, Asheville’s modular synth company, happening Friday at the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center.

Thursday, 7/20

SIYAH @ the Pritchard Park Singer/Songwriter Series

6-8 pm

Conscious hip-hop artist SIYAH performs in this free series, which showcases local musicians in the park. Check out our podcast with SIYAH on Asheville Grit here.

SPOILER ALERT! @ Habitat Brewing

9 pm – 11 pm

SPOILER ALERT! brings together local comedians with really bad B-movies. The first installment features host Moira Goree, Hillary Begley, and Miguel Angel Osornio, and the film is the gloriously bad Manos: The Hands of Fate. $5 includes popcorn.

Friday, 7/21

Downtown After Five presented by Prestige Subaru with the AVL All-Stars @ downtown Asheville 

5 – 9:30 pm

One of Downtown After 5’s favorite acts, the AVL All-Stars, returns to the stage for this Friday’s event. The Future AVL All-Stars from the Rock Academy open.

Brews and Bears @ the WNC Nature Center

6-8 pm

Happy hour is at the nature center this Friday, when you can enjoy a glimpse of the Nature Center and its wonderful residents after-hours. $10 for non-members, $5 for members.

Phantogram w/ Tycho @ the Highland Brewing Meadow

7-10 pm

Tickets are still available for what’s sure to be an amazing night of music in the great outdoors at Highland Brewing’s meadow. Rain or shine.

Performance + Artist Talk with Make Noise @ BMCM+AC (Featured Event of the Weekend!)

7-8:30 pm

This free event brings the local folks of Make Noise, the modular synth company, to the Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center, where they’ll be discussing their newest synth, the Morphagene, and performing.

Tin Foil Hat w/ Xero God, ILLPO, Tide Eyes @ the Mothlight

8:30 pm – midnight

Local producer Tin Foil Hat headlines in this all-star lineup featuring electronic music, hip hop, and instrumentation.

Corey Feldman and the Angels w/ Joshua Carpenter @ the Grey Eagle

9 pm – midnight

See your favorite 80s star perform in his new role as a blossoming pop icon with a troupe of ladies dressed in angel costumes. Oh yeah.

Saturday, 7/22

The Lost Chord: A Tribute to the Moody Blues @ the Altamont Theatre

The Lost Chord formed in 2016 with the intention of reproducing the classic, cosmic sound of music legends the Moody Blues. $10/$12/$15 VIP seating.

BEAT LIFE: Ill Doots / Shuhandz / mor∆sso / Vietnam Jerry @ The One Stop

9:30 pm – 2 am

BEAT LIFE is back with headliners Ill Doots, the Philadelphia-bred high-energy hip-hop artists. The night, as always, will feature the best sound in town. Free show (donations welcomed).

Something’s in the Woods Screening @ Grail Moviehouse 

9:30 pm – midnight

A horror movie straight from Knoxville to Asheville at the Grail. An homage to 80s slasher classics with some unique twists. $5. Check out the film’s Facebook page here.

Grand Fondo Asheville 2017 @ River Arts District (multiple routes)

8 am – 5 pm

Come out to the 4th annual Grand Fondo Asheville, a bike ride that will take you through Asheville and give you a glimpse of the city from behind your handlebars.

Southern Highlands Craft Fair @ the US Cellular Center

10 am – 5 pm

This famous craft fair happens all weekend, with regional artisans sharing their works and their process.
