Java for Justice is Friday

Pisgah Legal Services provides legal assistance and advocacy to low-income people in WNC facing issues like domstic violence, lack of health care, and lack of income. As part of its Java for Justice program, it accepts donations at local coffee shops on Friday.

Participating shops include City Bakery, Firestorm, The Green Sage, Izzy’s and more. The full list is here.

From the Pisgah website:

Pisgah Legal Services, Asheville Radio Group, The Van Winkle Law Firm and BMW of Asheville are partnering with great local coffeehouses to raise money for and awareness of the need for free civil legal aid, helping low-income people in Western North Carolina.

Join us on Friday, March 1st at any of these coffeehouses to enjoy a cup of java and some great company.  Radio personalities from Mix 96.5 and 98.1 The River will broadcast live from select coffeehouses, and Pisgah Legal Services’ ambassadors will be on-site to provide information and accept donations.

DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED for Pisgah Legal Services at all of these locations between Saturday, February 23 and Friday, March 1. (You can also make an online donation here).

VOLUNTEER AMBASSADORS ARE NEEDED on March 1 for two-hour shifts at our host coffee shops from 7am – 3pm. Please email Don Woodard if you can help out!

THANK YOU to our sponsors and to our coffeehouse hosts for their generous support!

This event will be a great way to feel energized and connected in your community, knowing you’re helping neighbors meet their basic needs, such as protection from domestic violence, avoiding homelessness, finding safe housing, and accessing health care.

What a combination: Good coffee and good people for a good cause.

See you there!
