Food writer Emily Patrick set to return to Asheville, will focus on WNC Magazine dining guide

Here’s the note from Emily Patrick, who did a great job as food writer for the Mountain Xpress:

After returning from a stint as a reporter in the Caribbean, where I had lots of fun as an island reporter and freelancer for The Associated Press, I’m very happy to be writing for WNC Magazine. I’m especially excited about working on the magazine’s dining guide, which comes out in the November/December issue. I’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with all the Asheville-area restaurateurs I love so much. The result will be a comprehensive yet curated look at dining in WNC’s 24 counties. I hope you will all use it and love it.

I will continue to work with WNC Magazine indefinitely because it’s such a great publication, and although I’ll start with some food coverage, I hope to write about a range of topics as I get settled.

Now, about getting settled – currently, I write for a range of clients in Asheville and Atlanta – publications, small businesses, you name it. For special folks, I also offer project management, marketing and public relations services, and I’m definitely looking to meet more people and take on more projects in both cities and anywhere in between.

Email me to say hi or anything else you want to say. The address is eeapatrick@gmail.com.

Congratulations to Emily. Here’s more about the upcoming dining guide from WNC Magazine editor Melissa:

Our Dining Guide is a select listing of restaurants by county. It’s a free listing that we curate and write, and as far as I’ve been able to tell, it’s the most comprehensive guide to dining in the 24 counties that we cover. We currently have around 180 listings.

Emily is going to be curating and revamping the guide, adding a whole bunch more places to eat around WNC. We are planning to role out the new and improved dining guide with the Nov/Dec Food Issue. I’m personally thrilled to have Emily curating this for us because she’s a proven writer and has a good discerning eye when it comes to food.

Finally….a real food writer. Could she contribute here too so we can finally dispense with Msgr. Helms thought provoking commentary?

Great news. The AVL food scene misses her work. MountainX’s food section took a major dive after she left.

Agreed. Welcome back Emily!
