Here’s more of what’s going around, including the opening of a new location of an Original Papa Nick’s pizza joint:

-Original Papa Nick’s has opened a pizza joint at French Broad River Brewing. Original Papa Nick’s has been serving up great pizza for more than 20 years. The family owned pizza joint’s original location is still cranking out great food in Mars Hill,

-Futo Buta, the new ramen shop that’s going in where Bartaco used to be on Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville, is coming together. They’re Charlotte-based. Permits have also been pulled for the new H&F Burger at 77 Biltmore Ave., the space adjacent to Mamacita’s. They’re Atlanta-based. (It was most recently Continental Lounge, and has been home to Seven Sows, Local Provisions, MoDaddy’s, etc.)

-A new baker’s collaborative in Asheville is planning its first pop-up event from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Fleetwood’s. It features baked goods by Jess Rosenkoetter of Short Street Cakes, Logan Pollard of White Labs, Emily Cadmus of Sawhorse and Ashley Cort of All Day Darling.

-Marshall continues to percolate with talented young artists and creatives banding together. Marshall Studios, a building full of artists, has been around for more than a decade now on Blannahasset Island. Back in spring of this year, the Golden Hour Collective opened in a building on Main Street. It includes vintage stores, a couple of photography studios and more. Now another group of young artists is coming together in a separate Marshall building under renovation. This group is called the Marshall Engine House and includes a group of about 10 artists. It’s led by Sarah Pike, a graphic designer/web designer.

-The Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau has hired Kathi Petersen as its new director of public information and community engagement. Petersen is a veteran PR flak in town. The hiring comes as tourism officials reassess how hotel room tax dollars are spent.

-Developer Harry Pilos, who announced plans several years ago for a mixed-use project in the Asheville River Arts District called the RAD Lofts, was meeting with Paul D’Angelo, the city’s affordable housing and community development expert, at a coffee shop one day late last week. Does this mean that the RAD Lofts will finally get off the ground?

-The team working on opening a vinyl record manufacturing business on the first floor of the former Asheville Citizen-Times building was in the building looking at plans on Thursday.
