Word on the street: Vortex Doughnuts to open on Banks Avenue in Asheville’s South Slope

Word on the street is that Vortex Doughnuts is set to move into 32 Banks Ave. on Asheville’s hot South Slope. It’s still apparently not a done deal, but paperwork could be finalized soon.

The new owners of 32 Banks have started exterior and interior renovations. The idea, as I understand it, is to break up the massive building into several suites for others to upfit. Here’s the last I reported about 32 Banks.

Vortex Doughnuts is an exciting new start-up. Their homemade specialty doughnuts have been winning prizes and making mouths water for quite some time now. Earlier this year, Vortex won the Big Tasty, a competition held by Blue Ridge Food Ventures to honor, and support, the best new food start-up they could find.

More as I get it.

This is great! I’m in favor and will support any company that builds it’s brand first, before hastily opening like many businesses on the north slope.
