WLOS nearly crippled by power surge

Share

Something screwy was going on at WLOS studios on Tuesday. If you were watching the station, you noticed a lot of dead air. A lot of emptiness. What happened? A massive power surge knocked the station off the air.

Sounds like WLOSers had quite a rough day. Sorry ’bout that, guys.

Loyal reader Ricky explains:

We did indeed have a power hit. Our backup power sources did not fire up like they usually do. Everything went down in production control, master control, and in the studio. I’ve never seen anything of the sorts in my 6 years at the station. It was very strange to be sitting there doing the broadcast and then have everything lose power. It certainly made for an interesting rest of the day.

i just thought my old sdtv could no longer handle the hdtv glory of wlos.

it certainly can’t handle the new, super crisp audio production. just sounds like overdriven static. i guess it is totally time to buy a new tv set.

sheeesh. technology. well, if wlos can spend hundreds of thousands on an awesome new studio (with an OVERHEAD cam, EVEN!>!>!) i guess i can finally pony up for a new fangled television box that gets more than just a few lines.

maybe i’ll even go full 1080p – they tell me that makes the new britney video better than sex.

funny, the same thing happened to Mission a month or so back, although I understand the hospital now denies it.
