Whew!

Somebody calling themselves “the power of promo” posted this on the comment thread on the Mountain Xpress story about local bloggers and anonymity, a story that included the lowly Ashvegas.

Besides a few production people…no one at wlos read ashvegas.

The reporters didn’t. The producer’s didn’t. Heck, management didn’t even know it existed, lol.

The reporters just knew that Ashvegas existed, and that they said mean things about them, and in fact the head of our promo department figured out it was jason last year after he signed his name at some blog convention, so the secret was already out, it’s just that nobody (besides me a few other people here ) cared.

Now that nobody’s reading…

I’m a reader.

Of course, I don’t work at WLOS.

Is the WLOSer who posted the comment in regards to Ash coming out willing to admit that his station and employer is the biggest joke out there in the media business and that a fifth grader could could run the station better then Sinclair and WLOS management???

Well….I am waiting WLOS…..I have been waiting on you for over five years to begin to show some signs of turning into a decent TV station instead of the poor excuse of a TV station that you are!

o, how i miss Scottie2Hottie and Candy Cane. -sigh- but thanks for the heads up, wlosinsider. we’ll have to get the newbies initiated!

Some geniuses at WLOS once told AC-T photographer Ewart Ball that they knew I was Ashvegas because they saw me with a laptop at a meeting last year, taking notes on what they were doing. (Keep dreaming.) They must have been eating some ‘shrooms, because I haven’t been to any meeting with a laptop since I was a reporter, and that was almost 5 years ago. And if they don’t read this blog or care about it, why did someone there call the APD and tell them they might want to reconsider hiring me, because I have a blog called Ashvegas that makes fun of WLOS? (Keep dreaming.) That’s quite extreme for people who purportedly don’t care, wouldn’t you say?

I’ve personally seen the Ashvegas site pulled up on several of the producer’s computer screens in the newsroom. I think the overall popularity of the site at the station has went down some though since Wickersham left and there are a lot of new people working in the newsroom now.

I think the Xpress website ate my reply to "the power of promo" – I forget which WLOSer it was, but someone referred to Darcel Grimes as "Diva Darcel" on-air in between the 5:00 and 6:00 newscasts about six months ago.

Methinks "tPoP" was just trying to make a mountain into a molehill.

Nobody invites me to any conventions.

-cry-

That comment from The Power of Promo is amusing. So no one at WLOS read it…EXCEPT for a few promo people. And no one in management knew it existed…EXCEPT the head of the promo department. Nope…no one cared about Ashvegas…EXCEPT Promo guy and a few other people. No one.

Ash September 13, 2007 - 2:27 pm

i’ve never been to any blog convention.

Edgy Mama September 13, 2007 - 1:57 pm

When did you go to a blog convention?

marc September 13, 2007 - 3:02 am

Yeah, right. Methinks "the power of promo" needs to come out of the edit suite every once in awhile. They all read it. And most of them knew all along (well before whatever blog convention Guy attended) who’s behind it. Some may have claimed not to be regular readers, but it’s just common sense to see what’s being said about your work. Even if you think most of it is mean-spirited ramblings from an employee of your most significant competitive news outlet, you still know there’s going to be a little kernel of truth to be found every once in awhile amongst the criticism.
