One of Asheville’s premiere food events celebrating local independent restaurants is happening this Thursday, and tickets are still available. Here’s the press release:

Asheville Independent Restaurants (AIR) will celebrate a big evening of what makes Asheville a culinary destination at The Venue at 21 North Market Street in downtown Asheville with “Taste of Asheville.” This highly anticipated annual fundraising event features food from 40 restaurants as well as wine tasting and beer tasting from local breweries.

Asheville food scene with its many locally-owned independent restaurants continued to get plenty of national media attention in 2016. Once a year, members of the Asheville Independent Restaurant Association come together to offer small bits from many chefs from 40 of Asheville’s best restaurants.

Sample plenty of food, with something for every palate. Choose from delicate pastries, smoky barbecue, melt-in-your-mouth organic chocolates, Southern comfort food, French favorites, colorful Indian curries, ice cream, local craft beers, hard cider, wines and more.

The 2016 theme is “Taste and Tunes.” New this year is entertainment provided by the Asheville Busker Collective. Local performers featured throughout the event will be The Fly By Night Rounders—featuring Abby the Spoon Lady; The Silver Girl human statue and The All Arounders.

Since it first started in 2008, AIR’s Taste has grown to become the city’s premier sampling and sipping event. It’s a great opportunity to talk to the people behind the flavors you love.

A portion of the proceeds from the evening ticket sales every year benefit various programming and outreach efforts.

VIP tickets (early admission at 6 PM) are $100; general admission tickets (admission at 7 PM) are $75. The event ends at 9 PM. Tickets will go in sale October on the AIR Website www.airasheville.org.
