Informal Ashvegas poll: What would you name the Orange Peel’s new space?

Share

The Orange Peel is all but finished with some major renovations which will increase the capacity of the small club by several hundred people and provide a new “smoking porch,” as well as a new downstairs lounge-type space that’s supposed to be pretty swank. I haven’t seen it, but a bunch of people have checked it out.

The basement club will operate as a membership club, so you’ll have to pay to be a member. But it’s yet another new venue on the Asheville scene. The Orange Peel is now in the process of figuring out a name for the new space, and is talking with different “focus groups” about it.

Various names, many with an “orange” bent, have been floated: The Navel, The Clementine, The Rind. Other names have been pitched, as well: The Hole, The Basement.

So my question to you, loyal readers, is this: What would you name the Orange Peel’s new venue?

The Twist, The Rind, The Zest, Arancione, Alaranjado, Cascara, Schale, Casca,

My favorite, however, is Sous La Peau, which translates to "under the peel".

Maybe — "Orange Slice" for the small space; "Burnt Orange" for the smoking porch.

I’m skeptical about a "membership" part; seems out of character here.
